Pitch pop!
A winning hotel story
The pitch needed to demonstrate a deep understanding of the hotel’s brand, ensuring the interior design proposal felt credible, considered, and aligned with the client’s identity and desired outcome. My first step was to immerse myself in the brand, translating its tone and values through colour, typography, photography, and visual storytelling.
The key constraint was time. The presentation had to be designed rapidly in PowerPoint while interior designers were simultaneously developing content. To support this, I focused on creating a collaborative working environment within a tool the team was already comfortable using. I introduced a simple stop-light system that allowed the team to flag slides as ready for design while continuing to work on others. This enabled us to move quickly without blocking progress and kept everyone aligned throughout the process.

The team successfully won the pitch, securing their first hotel design project. Once the project commenced, the visual direction established in the pitch was carried through into window decals used to screen areas under construction, reinforcing consistency from proposal to delivery.
Working so closely with the team also revealed recurring challenges in their pitch and presentation workflow. In response, I created a reusable presentation template, supported by clear guidelines and a short workshop, enabling the team to maintain design consistency and confidence on future pitches even when I was not directly involved.
